Whilst you’re here, check out my 5 top tips to getting natural wedding photographs . . .
Here are my 5 top tips on how to make sure you don’t do a Chandler during your portraits session:
1. Choose a photographer you actually like
A portfolio of stunning images is great but if you don’t connect with the person behind the camera then you won’t get natural looking images. When choosing your photographer, ask yourself, could I spend all day with this person and would I enjoy it?
2. Book an E-shoot
It’s a no brainer really. It’ll minimize your anxiety about having your wedding photos done because you’ll realise it’s not that bad, you’ll have an opportunity to get to know your photographer and build rapport with them and you’ll have an extra set of images to use for a signing board / any other decoration
3. Don’t pose
Let the day unfold naturally and interact with your new husband and all your guests as you normally would. Stopping to look at the camera stops the natural flow and looks awkward, your photographer will direct you when they need you to interact but for the rest of the time? Just enjoy your day.
4. Laugh Out Loud
When it is actually time to pose for official portraits, don’t do a practised smile. Laugh out loud. The difference in a photo when you let it go and actually laugh compared with a forced smile? That literally is the difference between your final images looking posed or natural.
5. Do your research
Search #’s on Instagram or keywords on Pinterest to get an idea of what ‘poses’ you think could work for you and your partner. Then, practise together, I’m told it’s fun and it definitely helps boost your confidence which will show on camera.
